Day 57
Breakfast has changed forever, health is here to stay and i feel better for it. Lunch is no problem ,gym , salad ,fruit not exciting but ok. Evenings are a problem.
Especially here in HK where frankly entertainment is severely constrained by not eating or drinking.I am looking for a sustainable balance but i just dont see it yet.

Day 48
Switched to morning workouts, dont like the hours as i was up early anyway but now its just me, the bakers, other parents and people getting home from a good night out.
That said it does make you fee better for the rest of the day and if it burns fat better per minute of exertion then great, less is more.
Feel what Patrick said about the PCP valley , 90 days is looooong. I understand its about permanently changing habits and some are there already. Breakfast is back and not a double expresso and cigarette either, in fact cigarettes are gone, so is coffee until later...had to break the mould. I now have my daughter stealing my fruit, veg and eggs but not the butterless and marmiteless toast.
I can feel other priorities gradually changing too, cant say its easy but the direction is promising.

Day 41
Back on track, knee seems ok, being careful with it though, I dont want to go through that again. I did a lot of swimming the last few days instead of jumprope or running, and really enjoyed it. I havent swum regularly for years, i'd forgotton how good it makes you feel. Well worth it if u have easy pool access.
I dont think ive done much good this last week but i hope ive maintained the work done before.49 days to shift that last fat or turn it to muscle.

Day 35
Still crippled but can bend my knee a few degrees more and I have received some funny looks from taxi drivers a I lever myself in and out.
Hoping I self repair soon.Strangely I miss the exercise already and feel like I have pent up energy to be released.

day34
Serious pain, felt dodgy yesterday post exercise, woke up this morning like Herr Flick. Thats unable to bend the right knee for those of u who dont remember the antique BBC comedy classic, its amazing how many activities become painful without that movement.
I put it down to concrete in HK and RSI, skipping, running etc etc. for 34 days but it doesnt really matter. Hopefully i'm better tomorrow otherwise its a trip to the doctor, in the short term its rest, more rest and a few martinis and a bottle of wine, or as needed until pain subsides.
I'd say i was restricting myself to exercises you can only do with your hands but that would be wrong and also untrue.

Day 28
Well, 4 weeks in and it feels like a lot longer than that... but good. 89kg -6.5kg, waist - 4 inches and thats just 4 notches on my belts,I havent taken out the tape yet but I am one notch away from having to buy some new belts tho'.
Good news is a lot of my antique wardrobe has become rewareable, give it time and it might be fashionable(again).
I have plateaued, is that a word?, here for a while but generally feeling better than i have for a long time so relaxed and as per Patricks earlier mail I'm now receiving encouraging/disbelieving remarks as oppossed to huge sums of money pledged against the 90 day dream.Keep the faith PCPers...

Day 21
I woke up this morning and felt better so still squeezed in a gym sesion at lunchtime and a 1000 jumps this evening. I'm guessing slight muscle soreness is going to persist for the next 69 days but feeling much less tired and sore than yesterday.
As for the 1000 jumps , they just flew by, I remember thinking 250 was a lot, I've been PCP'd.

Day20
I think I might have overdone it slightly on the exercise, feeling weaker in the pullups and a bit heavy legged while running. I might tone it back to just the PCP exercise for a day and rest up a bit.
Day19
Ive been a hermit for 19 days and not really been out socially. I managed dinner out, everyone drinking except me, roast pork and I swerved the crackling and grease and cheese etc etc and had a pcp compliant healthy meal. Not quite the same but not intolerable.

Day18
Tought id take a break from jump rope and ran up to the Peak( well staggered the last few hundred steps) back down again, across to the reservoir and back to Mt Davis. I could not have done that 19 days ago and tho' i was tired I still had energy left, a massive improvement in my fitness level. Well done PCP.
Day 17
Took some time off to relax and focus, still stressed, but not by the PCP. Exercise is now a daily habit, in a good way. In fact a twice daily habit , minimum. Its been a long time since i exercised this regularly and it feels good. Rather like giving up smoking, i cant put a finger on when i started to exercise less....its just something you drift into , almost subconsciously.
Day 16
Difficult day, psychologically rather than physically. The PCP is starting to change my view of other aspects of my life.

Day 14
Well 2 weeks in and so far so good. I have firmed up a lot and as a pleasant side effect lost 4 kilos and 2 inches of my waist, so fat not muscle i think. Now weighing in at 91kg.
800 jumps gone in a flash, running and swimming easier, definately breathing improved even here in polluted hongkong. That is certainly down to not smoking though, i've been through this many times before and at times like this i have to ask myself how i ve drifted back to smoking so many times.
Curious to see what changes week 3 will bring.

Day 13
Run, work, gym, work, pcp workout, lounge on sofa ,bed. All interspersed with lots of fruit and veg. Not the most exciting of days, but virtuous and hopefully one day closer to peak condition.
Day 12
I am surprised at quite how much of some food you get for tiny weights, I am struggling to find variety too. I suppose its psychological but when i try to force down some veg or more carbs i actually feel less hungry. It is certainly changing my eating habits, god knows what my motivation will be in 90 days.
I remember doing the Atkins diet years ago and the only thing i craved was a slice of toast with marmite, I dont have any particular cravings with this diet yet, lets hope it stays that way.

Day 11
Feeling some muscle stiffness...which i suppose is good, generally feeling firmer. Just avoiding all invitations anywhere for a bit longer...sticking to the plan.

Day10
Back at work, but stuck to the diet and its pack lunches for ...well indefinately i suppose..the prepared food here in IFC is not really healthy. You can get fruit and salad but its a 90% chance that it comes from China which if youve seen farms and the state of the groundwater is like going to dinner at the Borgias.
Went to the gym at lunch and exercised in the evening and felt really good. I cant remember the last time i did that.
I havent seen the inside of a bar for 10 days now which is new, some might say unheard of, but it is starting to feel slightly anti-social. Nights out/dinner drinking perrier really dont appeal yet, id have to feel more like Robinson Crusoe before i'm willing to endure that torture

Day 9
A lot of travelling today but squeezed in the exercise early. Took a load of fruit for the trip.
I felt a lot better than on the journey over but a weeks holiday must have been part of that.Even so the PCP is making me feel better not worse so far.

Day 8
Still cant do all the skips in 1 go, lucky if i get to a hundred , otherwise exercise is fine, doing a lot of swimming too and teaching my daughter to swim.
Diet is OK tho not fun , drinking is a pleasure sorely missed though strangely enough i have not missed smoking at all.

Day 7
Still on holiday, I have been exploring the area and so far its all good though in a natural kind of way...no shops here or bars or people or dirt or pollution....i could go on but i wont. About as far different from Hongkong as you could get and still be on the same planet.
PCP still going well but i must admit im hungry eating half, the thought of a strict diet tomorrow conjurs up extreme hunger....belt tightening time i suppose.

Day 6
Same as Day 5 - but in a good way.Fantastic marine life out here, i hope this area is protected, the least spoilt part of the 'pines ive seen so far and ive seen quite a bit.
PCP going well, doing considerable exercise over and above just by accident, feeling pretty good.

Day 5
This is a retro post, in Palawan and its hard to get the internet here which makes a pleasant change.Bakuit bay ,a beautiful place, still unspoiled with very few people so i probably shouldnt be posting it. PCP is easy here, nothing to do but active pursuits with my family and a bit of lazing about, lots of fresh fish and fruit, no stress, i am feeling healthier by the minute.
Saturday, June 4, 2011
Day4
I do not recommend travelling through international airports, with your kids, wife, extended family whilst doing the PCP and having given up smoking and drinking...or indeed anything.
That said I survived the day, kept to the program, kept my sanity..just..and live to jump rope another day.
Heres to blue skies, white sand and swaying palms, home for the next few days.

Day3
Well slight hunger has arrived but that may well be down to no smoking rather than anything else.Off to Palawan tomorrow with my family, looking forward to swimming ,diving and general healthy pursuits and a distinct lack of temptation.Fresh fish and tropical fruit for the next week, or should i say half a fish , half a mango and half a coconut.
Thursday, June 2, 2011
Day2
Exercise no problem so far, diet no problem, not hungry yet, but I did discover I was heavier than I thought weighing in at a flabby 95kg. I dont remember eating all the pies, but according to my new scales I must have.
Not sure of my bodyfat percentage though I feel sure I could survive in the wilderness with no food for a good 30 days with no ill effect but maybe not 90.
Eating half a banana this morning was odd, half a soup was easy.Off to attempt half a Thai curry.

Day One
Well i woke up feeling sick as a dog, so eating half certainly wasn't a problem. Felt a lot better this evening and did day one's routine. Its the first time i've exercised in the evening in as long as i can remember and it feels pretty good,a refreshing change from a bar, let's hope i'm still saying that in 90 days.
